It’s a distinct island with its own culture and vibe, and everything gives you the impression that you’re in the Caribbean, which you are.
It takes around 36 hours to drive from a number of midwestern universities to Key West. You may, however, fly to Miami and rent a car to get to Key West. Along the A1A bridges from Miami to Key West, there are several famous stops, including Islamorada for snorkeling.
