In the style of every top-notch bartender, we’ve crafted a cocktail hour playlist that will add to your guest’s experience and leave them begging for more. What does it take to become a master mixologist? Years of training? An encyclopedic knowledge of drinks? That’s just what you need in real life. For the purposes of this blog, you’ll need only the following ingredients:
In case you want to optimize the event, reach out to the Indian wedding Dj services who have the confidence to turn the event special and dynamic in no time.
- A Spotify account
- The ability to hit “Play”
- You!
You are now equipped with everything it takes to become a master bartender in no time at all! Or, well…it’s really just about having fun and making people happy. No biggie.
That being said, we’ve crafted a cocktail hour playlist that is sure to impress your friends and leave them thirsty for more. You’ll notice throughout the playlists we try to include tunes with a wide appeal so you don’t have someone asking you why there are The Pogues mixed in with Beyonce (you can lead a horse to water…). We’ve also tried not to include artists more than once (with exceptions for some of our favorite songs) otherwise, this playlist would be twenty hours long.

How many songs should I have for cocktail hour?
12 songs is a good number of songs for cocktail hour, and there’s actually no hard and fast rule on how long that should be. If you’ve got only one guest, a cocktail hour can go until the after-party starts. If it’s just you and your spouse with cocktails before dinner, 12 songs should get you through the whole pre-dinner phase.
How long does cocktail hour last?
Cocktail hour is a loose term, and it can depend on what kind of party you’re throwing. Usually, let people have a drink or two before we sit down for dinner, so it’s less than an hour. That means my playlist is 10-12 songs long. But if your guests are having appetizers at the same time as cocktails, you might want a longer playlist to keep their spirits up. Set the environment according to your preferences by conversing with the best Indian Dj in California and expect them to do wonders!
How can I use this list?
As always, don’t be afraid to customize the music for your own purposes. If one of these songs isn’t playing on your iPod right now, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t include it on your playlist! This list can be a great starting point for creating the perfect cocktail hour playlist.
Here’s my list of top tunes:
1) “Let’s Get Lost” – Chet Baker”
This song really sets the tone. Chet Baker has a way of making even his solos sound like a smooth conversation, and this song is no exception. If you’ve never heard of Chet Baker before, this is a great introduction.
2) “Good Morning Heartache” – Billie Holiday
This song is a classic, and like Chet Baker, Billie Holiday had a way of singing that made everything sound good. If you want to explore more Billie Holiday, this is a good starting point.
3) “Someone to Watch Over Me” – Frank Sinatra
This song is another masterpiece for a reason. There’s no better way to kick off your night than with this tune.
5) “Tennessee Waltz” – Al Bowlly
This song has a jazzy feel to it that I love. It’s also a great song to include if you want something with a bit more of a nod to the past and a song that a lot of people will recognize.

6) “You Go To My Head” – Frank Sinatra
This song is perfect for cocktail hour. Frank Sinatra has so many songs that would fit in here, but this one makes the cut due to its laid-back feel.
7) “Sway” – Dean Martin
This song is a great example of how great a singer Dean Martin was. If you don’t know who Dean Martin is, definitely check him out!
8) “You Make Me Feel So Young” – Frank Sinatra
This song is great for a cocktail hour because it has a great beat and gets people up to dance.
9) “Drunk In Love (Piano Version)” – Beyonce ft. Jay Z
I know, I know. It’s ridiculous to include this on a playlist for cocktail hour, but I’m guilty of digging it and there’s no shame in admitting it. Plus, it is a beautifully produced song.
Final Words
I hope you all find this playlist useful. Cocktail hour is everyone’s favorite time of the party, and it’s always a blast. I’ll see you next week with another article! Let your Indian wedding Djs know about all these songs and they will cater to your demands flawlessly.
